March Event & Updates

Posted 10 months ago (Last edited 10 months ago) by cossetlings

Spring, many a cossetling's favorite season, is finally here! As the snow melts away and flowers begin to bloom, cossetlings gather to welcome a magical season.

🌼Event: flower fairy festival

Ends MAY 5TH 10pm est

For cossetlings, spring is a season of flowers and fairytales. Perhaps, as plants themselves, the feel the magic in bloom. Spring also happens to be a season of change. From now on, events will be bimonthly instead of monthly.

Flower Fairy Festival Currency: Flower Fairies

These paper fairies are thought to be good luck charms during the festival as they may put you in the fair folk's good graces. Collect one flower fairy daily from the Towne Garden with a goldleaves reward for not missing a day. Exchange them at the Butterfly Gazebo for various items or try your luck by turning them in the Twinkling Grove for gratitude and more. Whether or not the fair folk exist on Latorre, they (apparently) do on Earth so it's better to be safe than sorry!

You can earn more flower fairies from the limited-time event prompts: Spring Welcome, Fairytale Fancy, Fairy Charm

Completing all three event prompts will let you complete the Flower Fairy Festival prompt with an award of goldleaves, flower fairies, and the special event memento: Fae Statuette

Flower Fairies will vanish on May 10th so make sure to use them before then.

And along with the festival, a new seasonal souvenir has blossomed.

🌷 spring's souvenir: everbloom branch

Available in March, April, May

This flowery souvenir causes a cossetling grow bark and is only available during spring.

And, of course, there's this month's souvenir~

🌷 march's souvenir: papillion de l'air

This fragrant souvenir will cause a cossetling to sprout fairy-like wings and is available until April 5th.

There happens to be an event souvenir as well!

🌷 event souvenir: winged barrette

This sheep moth souvenir will cause a cossetling to grow antennae.

Winged Barrette will be given to those who complete all three Flower Fairy Festival prompts. You can also get a Winged Barrette by collecting all seven Rainbow Fairies from traveling. With them, create a Fairy Chain with a limited-time event spell! You can turn it in the Woven Basket for gratitude or in exchange for the event souvenir.

Do note, you can't get all seven fairies from one location as they're scattered about so make sure you visit each location!

On the topic of traveling, you can now find berries and a few other ingredients to make use of some new jam spells!

And though the vulorros have scampered off, the flowers have brought in another seasonal cosprout.

🌱 spring’s cosprout: bebom

Available in March, April, May

These bee-like cosprouts love flowers as much as cossetlings do and are the easiest to befriend during the spring season as they become quite bee-sy collecting resources during summer and autumn before hibernating through the winter.

With events now lasting two months instead of one, monthly seasonal cosprouts will no longer change monthly. Instead, they will change with each event. And speaking of, there seems to be a cosprout quite interested in the Flower Fairy Festival.

🌱 event cosprout: lapito

Available in March, April

While they're usually cautious, preferring to spend their time in underground burrows away from cossetlings, these bunny-like cosprouts are positively enchanted by fairytales and as such are the easiest to befriend during the Flower Fairy Festival.

If you're curious about this event's seasonal storybook & snippet, it will be published on April 5th. From now on, seasonal storybooks and snippets will be released during the second month of an event.

But speaking of magic...

🌱 introducing: storylines

Ever so often, there will be storylines that you can follow. Learn more about the NPCs, Latorre, and cossetlings as a whole! And there seems to be something brewing... Perhaps you should pay a visit to Help Wanted.

And there seems to be a peculiar-looking clover growing in Latorre... Stay tune for a limited-time MYO event prompt soon.

As always, thanks for playing Cossetlings. Have a happy spring and say hello to all the new flowers!

Mini Vday Update & Some Changes

Posted 11 months ago (Last edited 11 months ago) by cossetlings

Happy Valentine's Day! As a little fun thing, here's a limited-time spell and activity. :]

Create Heartfelt Chocolates until March 5th 11:59:59PMEST which you can then sell directly from your inventory for goldleaves or turn in a batch at the Lovestone Bakery for gratitude and a bonus keepsake! Find chocolate pots in Whitley Acres and heart-shaped boxes in Towne Brote for a limited-time while traveling~

And now for some changes to cossetlings as a species.

First, a trait change. Horn Growth originally allowed a cossetling to have an additional pair of horns. While developing the species further, I feel this trait is something that no fits into what makes a cossetling a cossetling. It has now been changed to allow bigger and more elaborate horns instead. You can look over the NPCs to see which kinds of horns would require the trait!

The second change is in regards to heralds. Previously, you needed a herald charm to transform any cosprout into a herald. However, cossetlings have a natural affinity towards lambas as, despite everything, they're sheep(ish) too! And lambas are not only the most common cosprout, they're also the easiest to befriend. Therefore, any cossetling can have a lamba herald with no extra item/pet requirement. If you would like to give your cossetling a lamba herald, just follow the instructions outlined in the herald section of the guidebook. If you would like to give your cossetling a non-lamba herald, you will still need their respective herald charm. Do note, a cossetling can only have one herald so choose wisely!

Because any and every cossetling can have a lamba herald, they're not considered charmed and would not get a gratitude bonus versus a cossetling with a non-lamba herald. Still, lamba heralds are heralds and can be used in prompt and gallery submissions instead of a regular cossetling.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in #ask-staff on the Discord.

That's all for now! Hope everyone has a lovely day. :D

February Event & Site Updates

Posted 11 months ago (Last edited 11 months ago) by cossetlings

February already? The Starlit Masquerade may be at its end but for the cossetling whose dancing partner became something more, the next event is just as exciting.

🌼Event: Psyche Remembrance

Ends March 5th

For cossetlings, there's no love more enduring than the one earthling Psyche had for Cupid. February is when Latorre celebrates that love, but Psyche Remembrance is not just for romance. Rather, it's a time to reflect on all kinds of love and what you'll do for those you care for.

Psyche Remembrance Currency: Love Notes

Some feelings can't be put into words but that doesn't mean you can't try. Collect one love note daily from the Lost & Found and exchange them at the Post Office for various goodies. You'll get a goldleaves reward if you don't miss a day!

You can get more love notes by completing limited-time event prompts: Mail Overload, Kiss-Shot Arrow, Supreme Chocolatier

By completing all three event prompts, you can complete the 'Psyche Remembrance' prompt and be awarded goldleaves, love notes, and the special event memento: Cupid's Arrow

Love Notes will vanish on March 10th so make sure to use them before then!

And fitting with the holiday is this month's souvenir.

🌷 february’s Souvenir: crystal flower

This long-lasting souvenir turns parts of a cossetling into crystal and is only available until March 10th.

And it seems Malcolm wrote a new storybook inspired by this holiday!

🌱 Introducing: seasonal storybooks & snippets

These limited-edition storybooks and snippets give cosprouts a unique appearance and are only available during certain months. Each seasonal storybook edition contains enchantments for a select group of cosprouts with future editions adding more.

February's Storybook: Cupid & Psyche (First Edition)

This moving tale will enchant a cosprout to look like Cupid himself!

Cupid & Psyche (First Edition) and its matching snippet will be available in the Secluded Cottage until March 5th and in the Post Office until March 10th.

And speaking of cosprouts, don't forget about this month's seasonal one!

🌱 february's cosprout: fawnadu

Though the estras have floated away after the masquerade, February is when fawnadus come out of hiding. Notoriously shy but in love with love, these deer-like cosprouts are the easiest to befriend during Psyche Remembrance. But they'll return to the forest when the holiday ends so befriend one while you can!

But that's not all. This month brings some major new features!

🔔 new feature: traveling

Take a page out of Cosette's book and explore Latorre! Have your cossetling (or NPC) go on a train ride to visit a place on Latorre three times per day and they'll return with goodies for you to claim! These goods can be tools or ingredients that can be sold directly from your inventory for goldleaves or be used with spellcasting to create Enchanted Items and Magic Food which can then be sold from your inventory for higher prices.

But what if you have trouble tracking down a specific item?

🔔 new feature: farmer's market

With the addition of the Farmer's Market, you'll be able to have your own shop on site! Add items and pets to your shop with the 'Quickstock' button while in your inventories and price them for other users to buy. You can access your shop under on the 'Activity' tab on the navigation bar. Feel free to personalize your shop by adding a description and shop keeper image! :D

And speaking of shops, how about a new currency?

🌱 Introducing: gratitude

No good deed is punished on Latorre. Gratitude is a special permanent currency which you will be able to get for doing nice things for other cossetlings and other users! As for some examples...

Draw the featured cossetling Submit gift art to the new 'A Nice Thought' prompt.

ANSWER THE HELP WANTED AD 'Help Wanted' is a new kind of daily. Every day a cossetling will ask for an item, usually one you can get from traveling. You can fulfill the request every 24 hours by turning in the requested item and be awarded with gratitude!

HELP OUT an NPC Sometimes the NPCs can use a hand. 'Working with Whitlea' is a new permanent daily where you get gratitude from Whitlea for helping her out on the farm. Plus you get bonus gratitude for every week you spend with her!

COMPLETE ACTIVITIES Activities, another new feature, are tasks you can complete for various rewards including currency, pets, and more! The current activity is tied to the event: Turn in unwanted Love Notes to the Hearts Mailbox and receive gratitude in return. The post office needs to deliver all the letters.

collect cosprouts Cosprouts will give you gratitude once per month as thanks for befriending them! Clicking the 'Drops' button under a cosprout on the pets page will take you to the page to collect gratitude from them.

BE CHARMING Charmed Cossetlings can get gratitude from their charms (like their heralds!) once per week. Just select 'Collect Gratitude' on the sidebar when on your charmed cossetling's profile.

And word gets around when you do nice things. For an example, Whitlea will now give you a Watcher's Fruit in exchange for gratitude as a token of appreciation! More things to purchase with this new currency will be added in the future.

❗Reminders

February is the last month of winter! As such the following items and pets will no longer be available in any official site shops after March 10th 11:59:59PM EST: Cashmere Shawl (Seasonal Souvenir), Crystal Flower (Seasonal Souvenir), Vulorro (Seasonal Cosprout), Fawnadu (Seasonal Cosprout), Cupid & Psyche (First Edition) (Seasonal Storybook), Cupid & Psyche Snippet (Seasonal Snippet), Fairytales for Vulorros (Vol. 1) (Storybook), Fairytales for Fawnadus (Vol. 1) (Storybook)

Don't worry, these items and pets will return next winter. :]

'Buttercup Baker' (COS-008) hasn't been claimed yet! Feel free to give this cossetling a home.

With the Dancing Daffodils daily having ended, Red Envelopes will now obtainable by traveling to Towne Brote.

And that's all for now. Next month is a new season which includes an exciting new event. As always, thanks for playing and I hope you have a great month! ^^

Mid-January Update

Posted 1 year ago (Last edited 1 year ago) by cossetlings

Just a small update! It seems certain lunar celebrations on Latorre have attracted a rare cosprout...

🌱 new cosprout: longon

These rare dragon-like cosprouts are known for their hoarding tendencies. Some have tranquil depositions while others have fiery tempers. From now until February 20th 11:59:59PM EST, longons can be found lounging in Hieland Ranch.

Also, if you get your hands on three red envelopes, you can cast a new spell that will grant you a Hongbao! Opening this item may grant goldleaves or a longon! You can collect red envelopes from Dancing Daffodils. Remember, this spell is temporary and will vanish on February 20th 11:59:59PM EST.

And on the topic of cosprouts, herald adopts will now be available for purchase! They will be posted on the sales page along with cossetling adopts as usual. The charms page has also been updated with information on designing a cossetling based off a herald (a bit of chicken-or-egg scenario lol).

That's all for now! See you next month~

Happy New Year & January Event, Updates

Posted 1 year ago (Last edited 1 year ago) by cossetlings

Happy New Year! I hope 2023 was good to you and that 2024 is even better. And thanks joining Cossetlings in its first few months of launch. I am very thankful for the support and for the cosprout love. :]

Of course, new year means new month and new month means new event~

🌼 Event: Starlit masquerade

Ends february 7th

The Starlit Masquerade is held at the start of the year for Latorre. In comparison to the jolly Saturnalia festivities, the Starlit Masquerade is a subdued classy affair. Indeed, this is the time for cossetlings to dine and dance, share gossip, and see who’s best dressed.

Starlit Masquerade’s Currency: Party Favors

What’s a party without little gifts for guests? Party Favors are handed out during the masquerade and can be used to purchase items from the Gift Table. They will vanish on February 12th so make sure to use them before then!

Get one daily party favor from the Reception Hall during January along with a goldleaves reward if you don’t miss a day. You can also get party favors from the event prompts: Belle of the Ball, Dancing Daffodils, Practice Makes Perfect.

By completing all three event prompts, you can complete a fourth which will reward party favors, goldleaves, and the special Starlit Masquerade memento: Masked Brooch.

Starting from this event, there will be a special memento given to those who collect the event mementos. Stay tune!

And if you wonder why it’s called the Starlit Masquerade…

🌱 January’s Cosprout: Estra

Though the jengipans have run off after Saturnalia, January is when the star-like estras descend from space to deliver their resources. Their descent light up the night sky and when cossetlings aren’t drinking and dancing, they’re stargazing. Estras linger on Latorre for a month before returning to space so befriend one while you can!

The resources estras collect are refined by magic to make this month’s seasonal souvenir.

🌷 January’s Souvenir: Nightsky Wine

This lavish souvenir gives a cossetling a stardust appearance and is only available in January.

For the first time, there will also be a second seasonal souvenir for the month!

🌷 Second Souvenir: StarBright Necklace

This flashy souvenir will cause small stars to float around a cossetling.

Star Bright Necklace will be given to everyone who completes all of the Starlit Masquerade prompts. Not every month will have a second souvenir so keep on the lookout.

And it seems cossetlings aren’t the only ones who can change appearance!

🌱 Introducing: Spellcasting and Enchanted Cosprouts

Cossetlings are natural spellcasters, being no stranger to magic as they're made of it. They use spells to enchant various things, including food. When it comes to cosprouts, cossetlings can use magic to change their appearance. And magic can come from anywhere on Latorre, just ask the new NPC.

Thumbnail for Malcolm

Malcolm, a reclusive writer, works magic on cosprouts. You can learn how to enchant cosprouts from purchasing storybooks from his shop. Casting a spell on a cosprout using a story snippet can change them into one of five colors: Blush, Periwinkle, Flaxen, Verdant, and Lavender. More storybooks, and other kind of spells, will be added in the future.

But if a cossetling wants to develop their spellcasting further?

🌱 Introducing: Charms

A charm is a magical ability cossetlings can gain by using a specific magic. A new subtype, charmed cossetlings can do things that cossetlings without charms cannot. What they do can be quite varied and can even affect other beings!

⭐ Charm: Herald

A herald is a cosprout infused with a charmed cossetling’s magic. As a result, their form changes to match the cossetling. Historically, a herald was a sort of a scout for space-travestying cossetlings and “heralded” their arrival to a new world. Nowadays, heralds are also used as messengers and/or representatives for cossetlings. They can also just be pampered pets.

Because of their nature, and unlike regular cosprouts, heralds can be used in prompts instead of a cossetling. For more information, please read the new charm page in the guidebook.

For a cosprout to become a herald, it needs a strong bond with a cossetling. Who else knows more about bonding with cosprouts than Lennox? Head over to his shop to purchase a Sprout Manual and Mossy Bell to transform a cosprout into a herald! There’s also a new quest that will award these items when completed.

And speaking of cosprouts, it seems a new one has wandered into Lennox’s flock!

🌱 New Cosprout: Bevaca

These cattle-like cosprouts are generally curious and easy-going but some can be quite bull-headed. They will be available all year round in the Hieland Ranch alongside lambas and killies.

✿ Additional Site Updates

A Welcome Gift is now available in Cosette’s Souvenirs!

Starting with the Starlit Masquerade, events will no longer end at midnight. Instead, they will end at 11:59:59PM EST on the given date. In addition, the prior month’s event currency and event shop will now disappear five days after the event has ended.

You can edit your cossetling’s description now! Simply select ‘Edit Profile’ under ‘Settings’ from the sidebar on your cossetling’s page.

A link to the NPC Masterlist has been added to the navigation bar.

The site’s look has been tweaked a little. If anything looks off please hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) on desktop or clear your cache and/or history on mobile.

Heralds can now be tallied for rewards in prompt and gallery submissions. In response, the 'Chibi' reward criteria now only applies to cossetlings.

The buying limit on monthly seasonal cosprouts in event shops has been removed.

Buying limit on the season’s seasonal cosprout in Hieland Ranch has also been removed.

Many thanks to everyone who has left feedback so far! You can receive a goldleaves reward for leaving feedback again in March. There have been suggestions that will definitely be considered and/or implemented in the future. Certain things may take while to be added but I’ll do my best! As always, thanks for playing Cossetlings! Have a great year!
