Happy New Year & January Event, Updates
Posted 1 year ago (Last edited 1 year ago) by cossetlingsHappy New Year! I hope 2023 was good to you and that 2024 is even better. And thanks joining Cossetlings in its first few months of launch. I am very thankful for the support and for the cosprout love. :]
Of course, new year means new month and new month means new event~
🌼 Event: Starlit masquerade
Ends february 7th
The Starlit Masquerade is held at the start of the year for Latorre. In comparison to the jolly Saturnalia festivities, the Starlit Masquerade is a subdued classy affair. Indeed, this is the time for cossetlings to dine and dance, share gossip, and see who’s best dressed.
Starlit Masquerade’s Currency: Party Favors
What’s a party without little gifts for guests? Party Favors are handed out during the masquerade and can be used to purchase items from the Gift Table. They will vanish on February 12th so make sure to use them before then!
Get one daily party favor from the Reception Hall during January along with a goldleaves reward if you don’t miss a day. You can also get party favors from the event prompts: Belle of the Ball, Dancing Daffodils, Practice Makes Perfect.
By completing all three event prompts, you can complete a fourth which will reward party favors, goldleaves, and the special Starlit Masquerade memento: Masked Brooch.
Starting from this event, there will be a special memento given to those who collect the event mementos. Stay tune!
And if you wonder why it’s called the Starlit Masquerade…
🌱 January’s Cosprout: Estra
Though the jengipans have run off after Saturnalia, January is when the star-like estras descend from space to deliver their resources. Their descent light up the night sky and when cossetlings aren’t drinking and dancing, they’re stargazing. Estras linger on Latorre for a month before returning to space so befriend one while you can!
The resources estras collect are refined by magic to make this month’s seasonal souvenir.
🌷 January’s Souvenir: Nightsky Wine
This lavish souvenir gives a cossetling a stardust appearance and is only available in January.
For the first time, there will also be a second seasonal souvenir for the month!
🌷 Second Souvenir: StarBright Necklace
This flashy souvenir will cause small stars to float around a cossetling.
Star Bright Necklace will be given to everyone who completes all of the Starlit Masquerade prompts. Not every month will have a second souvenir so keep on the lookout.
And it seems cossetlings aren’t the only ones who can change appearance!
🌱 Introducing: Spellcasting and Enchanted Cosprouts
Cossetlings are natural spellcasters, being no stranger to magic as they're made of it. They use spells to enchant various things, including food. When it comes to cosprouts, cossetlings can use magic to change their appearance. And magic can come from anywhere on Latorre, just ask the new NPC.
Malcolm, a reclusive writer, works magic on cosprouts. You can learn how to enchant cosprouts from purchasing storybooks from his shop. Casting a spell on a cosprout using a story snippet can change them into one of five colors: Blush, Periwinkle, Flaxen, Verdant, and Lavender. More storybooks, and other kind of spells, will be added in the future.
But if a cossetling wants to develop their spellcasting further?
🌱 Introducing: Charms
A charm is a magical ability cossetlings can gain by using a specific magic. A new subtype, charmed cossetlings can do things that cossetlings without charms cannot. What they do can be quite varied and can even affect other beings!
⭐ Charm: Herald
A herald is a cosprout infused with a charmed cossetling’s magic. As a result, their form changes to match the cossetling. Historically, a herald was a sort of a scout for space-travestying cossetlings and “heralded” their arrival to a new world. Nowadays, heralds are also used as messengers and/or representatives for cossetlings. They can also just be pampered pets.
Because of their nature, and unlike regular cosprouts, heralds can be used in prompts instead of a cossetling. For more information, please read the new charm page in the guidebook.
For a cosprout to become a herald, it needs a strong bond with a cossetling. Who else knows more about bonding with cosprouts than Lennox? Head over to his shop to purchase a Sprout Manual and Mossy Bell to transform a cosprout into a herald! There’s also a new quest that will award these items when completed.
And speaking of cosprouts, it seems a new one has wandered into Lennox’s flock!
🌱 New Cosprout: Bevaca
These cattle-like cosprouts are generally curious and easy-going but some can be quite bull-headed. They will be available all year round in the Hieland Ranch alongside lambas and killies.
A Welcome Gift is now available in Cosette’s Souvenirs!
Starting with the Starlit Masquerade, events will no longer end at midnight. Instead, they will end at 11:59:59PM EST on the given date. In addition, the prior month’s event currency and event shop will now disappear five days after the event has ended.
You can edit your cossetling’s description now! Simply select ‘Edit Profile’ under ‘Settings’ from the sidebar on your cossetling’s page.
A link to the NPC Masterlist has been added to the navigation bar.
The site’s look has been tweaked a little. If anything looks off please hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) on desktop or clear your cache and/or history on mobile.
Heralds can now be tallied for rewards in prompt and gallery submissions. In response, the 'Chibi' reward criteria now only applies to cossetlings.
The buying limit on monthly seasonal cosprouts in event shops has been removed.
Buying limit on the season’s seasonal cosprout in Hieland Ranch has also been removed.
Many thanks to everyone who has left feedback so far! You can receive a goldleaves reward for leaving feedback again in March. There have been suggestions that will definitely be considered and/or implemented in the future. Certain things may take while to be added but I’ll do my best! As always, thanks for playing Cossetlings! Have a great year!
