October Update & Storyline Delay

Posted 3 months ago (Last edited 3 months ago) by cossetlings

Boo! Did I scare you? Good because October is all about scares. 👻

The Hallo'Moon Faire event continues in October. As a reminder, this event will end on Tuesday, November 5th 10PM EST. You can learn more about the Hallo'Moon Faire in a previous newspost here.

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the next chapter of the storyline, A Full Moon, has been delayed as well as the seasonal prompt. There will be an announcement when the backend error is fixed and both prompts are released. Thank you for patience and my apologies for the delay.

🌕

In more positive news, there is something to do! As you know, Cossetlings originally launched late October/early November. Even though November is the official anniversary month, that doesn't mean there can't be some early spooky celebrations~

trick o' treat!

For a limited time, you can travel to a new location: Henbane Grotto, a district in Nightshade Hollow who welcomes trick-or-treaters all October long, to earn Spooky Candy.

What can you do with this candy? Not only are they delicious, but spooky candy happens to a favorite treat for witchlings. Trade them in at the Witchy Kiosk in exchange for a Hallo'ween Goodie Bag until Tuesday, November 5th 10PM EST.

But you can't go to the grotto without a costume! You need at least one Hallo'Ween Mask to go trick o' treating or else they'll chase you out of town. You gotta be in the Hallo'ween Spirit, and it seems you don't have to be alone as you can also go trick o' treating with a NPC!

When the phrase 'trick o' treat' appears in the Witchy Kiosk, follow the link to visit the grotto with a NPC and earn even more candy. Just make sure to bring your mask!

And speaking of masks, you can now unlock the sixth one in exchange for the original five here. Don't forgot you can always make more masks until the faire ends on Tuesday, November 5th 10PM EST.

With this mask, you can unlock a special dialogue with a NPC to earn a Spooky Lolly. Witchlings value these lollipops a lot more than regular candies and you can trade them for a goodie bag and other items like this month's souvenir!

October's Souvenir: Abandoned Mirror

This haunting souvenir grants a ghostly appearance.

Abandoned Mirror will be available until November 5th in Cosette's Souvenirs and November 10th in Witchy Kiosk.

And, for the first time, there's an exclusive souvenir for Hallo'ween!

Hallo'ween's Souvenir: Infernal Contract

This unnerving souvenir grants dark sclera.

Infernal Contract can be obtained from the Hallo'ween Goodie Bag which the Witchy Kiosk will keep in stock until they close on Sunday, November 10th 10PM EST.

I wonder what else could be in the goodie bag? It appears there's a limited-time memento, Pumpkin Lollipop, and what's this? It appears something is hiding in here!

Hallo'ween Cosprout: Monstro

Available in October

Despite their looks, these monster-like cosprouts are huge scaredy kattes and easily frightened by the scary stories they love. In fact, they're usually only seen during Hallo'ween as it's the scariest time of year (to their delight and fright). As such, they're easiest to befriend in October.

And speaking of scary stories, it's no surprise Malcolm has published a new rather spooky one.

Event Storybook: What Goes Bump in the Night

This limited-edition storybook will enchant a cosprout to be spooky.

What Goes Bump in the Night will be available in the Secluded Cottage until November 5th and in the Witchy Kiosk until November 10th.

That's all for now. I hope everyone has a wonderful and spooky October! 🎃

September & October Event, Site Updates

Posted 4 months ago (Last edited 4 months ago) by cossetlings

Do you feel a chill in the air? The crunch of leaves underhoof? Autumn must be here! 🍂

Before we indulge in the pumpkin-y goodness of the season, a quick note to those who completed the previous event Braving the Element's prompt, A Tall Tale: A memento of the adventure you set the brave little lamba on will arrive on Sunday, September 15th. The adventure will continue next summer!

As for now, let's relax before the Harvest Season and listen to the calm sounds of fall like... circus music?

Event: Hallo'Moon faire

Ends november 5th 10PM EST

🎪

It's nearly Hallo'ween and the moon is high in sky! Normally, Latorre has two moons, Selene and Luna, but they merge into one during autumn. This super moon, Seluna, has an air of mysticism and magic, attracting cossetlings from all over the world but especially the witchlings from Nightshade Hollow. To celebrate Seluna and Hallo'ween, they have an annual faire filled with all kinds of spooky treats.

Hallo'Moon Faire Currency: Pumpkin Ticket

These pumpkin-scented roll tickets are handed out to visitors during the faire and can be exchanged for food, admission rides, and various other prizes.

Completing all three event prompts will let you complete Hallo'Moon Faire with an award of goldleaves, pumpkin tickets, and the special event memento: Spooky Popcorn

Pumpkin Tickets will poof into smoke on Sunday, November 10th 10PM EST so make sure to use them before then!

But tickets are not the only thing you can collect at the faire. During this event, you can craft your very own Hallo'ween Mask!

There are five masks currently available. If you collect them all, you will unlock a bonus sixth one in October. Rumor has it you may need them for something in October... I wonder what that could be? Make sure to get your own before the faire leaves on Tuesday, November 5th 10PM EST.

And fall not only brings the faire but the return of a seasonal souvenir from Cosette!

Autumn's Souvenir: Autumn Crown

Available in September, October, November

This regal souvenir grants all the the colors of autumn.

Autumn Crown will be available all fall in Cosette's Souvenirs and in Witchy Kiosk until it closes on November 10th.

And Cosette, like most cossetlings, can't resist the faire and has brought a new souvenir just for September.

September's Souvenir: Moon Crystal Ball

This mystical souvenir borrows the light of Seluna to grant a halo.

Moon Crystal Ball will be available until October 5th in Cosette's Souvenirs and October 10th in Witchy Kiosk.

The moon has an air of mystery, doesn't it? It may be related to an actual mystery!

storyline: a full moon

Ends november

🌕

A new storyline has started! Learn more about the NPCs, Latorre, and cossetlings as a whole and earn rewards by completing limited-time storyline prompts. There will be at least two chapters released per month in fall, ending with the Cossetlings Anniversary in November! There will also be a special reward for completing all storyline prompts. ^-^

It starts with a missing ringmaster. Perhaps a familiar face has a lead?

There's also a new site feature to go along with this storyline!

New Feature: Evercrisp Library

Visit Applelopolis's grand library to keep of storylines and perhaps other literature in the future. The previous storyline, Help Wanted, will be added at a later date.

And speaking of the moon, it has shone a light on a few new friends!

With the haunting and chilly atmosphere, the keroras prefer to leapfrog over this season and the next until summer returns. But it seems spooky season is right up this cosprout's alley.

Autumn Cosprout: Katte

Available in September, October, November

Independent and mysterious, these cat-like cosprouts are known for finding a way out of any tricky situation and are said to have nine lives. They also have a strong affinity for magic but seem particular fond of witchcraft. With all the magic in the air, they're the easiest to befriend during the fall season.

And watch your step! You may spot another cosprout scurrying around inside the faire.

Event Cosprout: Ramaus

Available in September, October

These quiet mouse-like cosprouts tend to keep to themselves and are nary seen. However, they seem to believe Seluna is made of a delicious cheese and are frequently seen during the Hallo'Moon Faire, trying to take a bite of the super moon for themselves. As such, they are the easiest to befriend during the Hallo'Moon Faire.

site updates

There's a few updates this month!

  • The sale price of Neapolitan Cream Ice has been changed to 68 goldleaves.
  • The sale price of Banana Split has been increased to 75 goldleaves.
  • Traveling, Activities, and Malcolm's Mailpile has been better integreted into the Dailies section of the site (including adding the dailies sidebar).
  • The seasonal monthly will now change each month instead of each season.
  • Activities has been added under the Play tab on the navigation bar.
  • Auctions rules will be changed. They will now end 24 hours after the first bid. There will be no more grace period for bidding.

And perhaps the biggest change...

That's right! Ahead of the anniversary in November, when Cossetlings ages up a year, the site is aging up now. Cossetlings will now be a 21+ only species. This is a change that I've been thinking of for a while. This site is heavily inspired by Neopets and the older adult community it has. I would prefer for Cossetlings to be a site and species for older adults who enjoy cute things. :) The content of the site will stay the same (SFW, non-explicit) and the TOS will be updated accordingly.

If you happen to be under the age of 21 and you joined before this announcement, you can stay and interact fully with Cossetlings as 18+ is still a legal adult. This only applies to new users.

And because of this change, Watcher's Fruit will no longer have limited stock in Whitley Acres. This may change in regards to future workload but for now, you are now only limited to buying one once per month.

As a note, you can share your thoughts with the site here. Do know that this site is mainly run by one person. If you like the site and want to see it continue as is with new updates and content, you can always support on Patreon. A huge thanks to everyone who has supported so far, both past and present patrons. :D

And that's all for now! As always, thank you for playing Cossetlings. Have a cool September. 🍂

August Follow-Up

Posted 5 months ago (Last edited 5 months ago) by cossetlings

Just a small update. ^^

As previously mentioned, five new storybooks have been released and are now available in Secluded Cottage! Reading one to a cosprout will turn it into one of the following colors: Rouge, Pumpkin, Cocoa, Charcoal, and Powder

Also: If you want some help treasure hunting, there is a new activity where you can turn in three map pieces for one Map Piece (Five)! This activity will available until the Braving the Elements event ends on Thursday, September 5th 10PM EST.

And, oh? It seems a new cosprout has wandered into Lennox's flock!

New Cosprout: Pololo

These chicken-like cosprouts are a mainstay on farms and their crowing is sure to wake anyone up at the crack of dawn! Pololos will be available all year round in the Hieland Ranch.

And that's all for August! See you in September~ 🍂

August Update

Posted 5 months ago (Last edited 5 months ago) by cossetlings

It's already the last month of summer. Time sure flies... but there's still adventures to be had!

The Braving the Elements event continues in August. As a reminder, this event will end on Thursday, September 5th 10PM EST. You can learn more about Braving the Elements in a previous announcement here.

August also brings a new seasonal souvenir!

August's Souvenir: Hades's Flame

This fiery souvenir gives parts of a cossetling's body or surface of it the appearance of being made of fire.

Hades's Flame will be available until September 5th in Cosette's Souvenirs and September 10th in Solar Campground.

And, with all the adventurers out and about, Malcolm has published a new storybook! No doubt inspired by their tales to write an even more fanciful one.

Event Storybook: In Shining Armor

This limited-edition storybook will enchant a cosprout to look like a knight.

But if you prefer a tale of a lone hero in dark armor, Malcolm has an additonal storybook for you: In Dark Armor. After all, he is rather fond of brooding loners himself.

In Shining Armor & In Dark Armor will be available in the Secluded Cottage until September 5th and in the Solar Campground until September 10th.

And that's not all! Malcolm is set to published five new storybooks in the Flower Series on August 10th! These will be new basic color enchantments that will be available all year round. I wonder what colors they might be?

reminders

August is the last month of summer! As such the following items and pets will no longer be available in any official site shops after Tuesday, September 10th 10PM ESTFirefly Lantern (Seasonal Souvenir), Hades's Flame (Seasonal Souvenir), Kerora (Seasonal Cosprout), Monko (Seasonal Cosprout), In Shining Armor (Storybook), In Dark Armor (Storybook), Cream Ice (Vol. 1) (Recipe Book)

These items and pets will return next summer. ^^

And that's all for now. Hope everyone has a nice, cool, and relaxing rest of summer!

Rainy Season Lamba & Recipe Book

Posted 6 months ago (Last edited 6 months ago) by cossetlings

The Rainy Season Lamba has now been released!

You can claim yours by submitting to this prompt. Again, thanks to everyone who participated in the Rainy Season event. :)

Additionally, a new recipe book has been released!

Cream Ice (Vol. 1) is all about creamy ice. Unlocking these spells will let you create yummy ice cream!

New ingredients and spells have been added included one that will randomize an ingredient. Magic can be rather fickle...

Cream Ice (Vol. 1) will be available in the Solar Campground until the campsite closes on Tuesday, September 10th 10PM EST.

As well as the recipe book, a new event daily has been released. Once a day, you can try and find pieces of a Treasure Map on a Quiet Beach. There's also a new activity where you can follow the map and see what you can find.

And that's all for this small update. I hope everyone has a fun rest of July. ^-^

July & August Event

Posted 6 months ago (Last edited 6 months ago) by cossetlings

rainy season: END

The rain has finally let up with summer at its peak on Latorre. But it'll seem quite a few cossetlings will miss the rain as Team Rain won the Rainy Season!

Congratulations!

On July 10th, everyone from both teams who completed the Rainy Season prompt (by completing all three event prompts) will be able to claim a special Rainy Season Lamba. More details to come, and a big thank you to everyone who participated in the event!

And don't worry Team Shine, you'll have plenty of time to spend in the sun especially during the next event...

event: braving the elements

Ends september 5th 10PM EST

How's your sense of adventure? For cossetlings, it's strongest at the height of summer. Perhaps all the time spent indoors during the Rainy Season reading and reciting stories is to blame. In any case, stations and ports are at their most busiest with cossets miling in and out, eager for a new experience. Whether it's camping, traveling, or even blinking off-planet, many are brimming with excitement to brave the elements and explore the great outdoors!

Braving the Elements Currency: Adventure Log

Not only are cossetlings are natural storytellers, they love to write stories especially when it's their own. So it's no surprise they jot down their daily adventure in journal logs during summer's peak. Collect one adventure log daily from the Sunkissed Cabin with a goldleaves reward for not missing a day near the end of each event month. Be sure to exchange tales of your adventure with others at the Solar Campground for various items or see if you can impress a Grouchy Globetrotter in exchange for gratitude and more.

You can earn more adventure logs from the limited-time event prompts: The Great Unknown, Riddle for the Ages, A Tall Tale

Completing all three event prompts will let you complete the Braving the Elements prompt with an award of goldleaves, adventure logs, and the special event memento: Trusty Compass

Adventure Logs will be archived and vanish on Tuesday, September 10th 10PM EST so make sure to use them before then.

But wait! It's dangerous to go alone so take this new souvenir from Cosette!

July's Souvenir: Poseidon's Trident

This wavy souvenir gives parts of a cossetling's body the appearance of being made of water.

Poseidon's Trident will be available until August 5th in Cosette's Souvenirs and August 10th in Solar Campground.

And there happens to be an additional souvenir for this event as well!

'Braving the Elements' Event Souvenir: Zeus's Bolt

This zappy souvenir electrifys the surroundings and surface of a cossetling.

Zeus's Bolt will be given to everyone who completes the 'Braving the Elements' prompt by completing all three event prompts. You can also get Zeus's Bolt as a possible reward if you collect all the pieces of a Treasure Map! And how do you do so? Perhaps you should pay Raúl a visit during a limited-time activity that will start on July 10th!

And with the Rainy Season at it's end, the patoys seemed to have waddled away with the rain. But it seems a new cosprout has swung onto the scene.

Event Cosprout: Monko

Available in July, August

These monkey-like cosprouts are infamous for their playful and fearless antics. Being quite rambunctious and high-energy, they're usually too much of a handful for most cossetlings. But due to their love of adventures and adventure tales, they're the easiest to befriend during summer's peak when cossetlings are at their most adventurous.

Along with the event, new magic food spells have been added along as well new fruits! A new recipe book will also be released on July 10th. I wonder yummy foods summer will bring?

And that's all for now! As always, thank you for playing Cossetlings. See you on the 10th!

June Update & Cosprout Changes

Posted 7 months ago (Last edited 7 months ago) by cossetlings

It's June! Which means it's officially summertime! ☀️

It's still the Rainy Season in Latorre though. As a reminder, this event will end on Friday, July 5th 10PM EST. You can learn more about the Rainy Season in a previous announcement here.

Since June is the start of summer, the seasonal MYO sale will take place on 28th. But June also happens to be a new month! So that means Cosette has two souvenirs to share.

Summer's Souvenir: Firefly Lantern

Available in June, July, August

This glowing souvenir causes a cossetling to become bioluminescent and is only available during summer.

June's Souvenir: Pristine Yarn

This delicate souvenir gives parts of a cossetling's body the appearance of being made of glass. Just like a raincatcher!

Pristine Yarn will be available until July 5th in Cosette's Souvenirs and July 10th in Crowded Station.

Speaking of raincatchers, it seems Malcolm has published a new storybook inspired by the Rainy Season!

Eh? Is this the right book? Oh, it appears Malcolm has published several new storybooks... What could this mean?

cosprout changes

Cosprout enchantments have been completely changed. From now on, you can enchant cosprouts by reading a storybook directly to them. You can do so by selecting your cosprout and then 'Enchant Pet' from the menu options. Once you select the storybook and matching enchantment color, click 'Read to Pet' and they will be transformed! The storybook will also vanish from your inventory.

This means storybooks will no longer by exclusive to each cosprout. Instead, they can be used to enchant any cosprout at any time without needing a snippet or specific cosprout enchantment spell!

With this change, a slew of new fairytales (like the one pictured above!) have been stocked in the Secluded Cottage. Additionally, storybooks now have a special tag to make it easier to see which items are cosprout enchantments.

And, most importantly, Fairytales for (Cosprouts) Vol. 1 and Snippets are now retired and will no longer be available in official shops. Cosprout Enchantment spells are also retired and will be removed from the site by the end of June. Enchanted Cosprouts (seperate from the default cream cosprouts) are retired as well and will be removed from the site on July 25th 10PM EST to avoid reduncacy and confusion. Their pet drops will also be removed by the end of June.

But don't worry! The default cream cosprouts are untouched and still have their enchanted forms as seen here. :) The seasonal storybooks have also been converted into the new storybook items as well.

But what if you have a now retired item or pet?

Attend one of Malcolm's Workshops! From now until July 25th, these activities will convert your retired storybook, snippets, and cosprouts into the new system. ^^ There's also a few workshops for specific cosprouts. If you have a retired enchanted cosprout that does not have a workshop, please send in a claim! And if you happened to have open your retired storybook, please send in a claim to get one of the latest editions for each storybook you used. ^-^

I know this is quite a big change and I understand that it may a lot to take in but I hope this will streamline cosprout enchantments for everyone and encourage everyone to get more! It will also help with adding new cosprouts and their enchantments in the future.

And with all this talk about cosprouts, summer as brought in a new one!

Summer Cosprout: Kerora

Available in June, July, August

While the beboms have become quite bee-sy collecting resources and buzzed off, keroras have hopped onto the scene! These frog-like cosprouts are frequently heard but rarely seen as they prefer relaxing by themselves over playing with cossetlings. However, the summertime warmth and feeling makes them even more relaxed and quite friendly too. As such, they're the easiest to befriend during the summer season.

And this kerora brought Malcolm's new storybook inspired by the Rainy Season!

Event Storybook: Over the Rainbow

This limited-edition storybook will enchant a cosprout to look like the sky.

Over the Rainbow will be available in the Secluded Cottage until July 5th and in the Crowded Station until July 10th.

And that's all for now! As always, thanks for playing Cossetlings. Hope everyone has a nice summertime.
