sometimes i wonder if the rain feels alone
it knocks on our windows, our roofs, our pavements
i hear the pitter patter and draw the curtains closed
please go away, i think
i do not see myself in your reflection
i do not see myself in how people draw away from you
im not like you, rain
as i do not reach for them

sometimes i wonder if the rain feels loved
it nourishes our gardens, our bodies, our skies
i hear the melodic lilting taps and open the curtain
thank you for coming, i say
i see myself in your reflection
i see myself in how i am reserved but important
im like you, rain
and i am loved
