A little hiccup

How did they get into this situation? Just this morning Lansi was dancing around her cabin with her lovely lamba Kino prancing after her, thrilled about the picnic they were embarking on. She travelled an awfully long time for each of the ingredients only for this day to take a disastrous turn.

Lansi was fighting for her life as a beast apprehended Kino. Plucked right off the blanket with only Lansi grasping onto their hoof. The picnic blanket was a mess of ice cream and jams as the cossetling dug into the ground for leverage.

“Ah, back, back you beast! Leave Kino alone!” Lansi screamed in frustration.

She reached around the blanket and started frantically throwing the emptying containers of food. The scaled beast shook its head as ice cream splattered against its head and flapped its wings with even greater ferocity until Kino was wretched from her grasp. Jar after jar missed the flying beast, even the blanket fluttered uselessly in the air. The beast kept flying onwards towards the blue forested mountain beyond their picnic spot.

Lansi could still see how Kino bleeted furiously and wriggled in the beast’s clawed grasps. They tusseled until Kino had enough leverage to bite the beast above their claws and the beast suddenly let go. The rainy day lamba fell into the forest below. The beast must have decided it was too much effort and did not dive back to find Kino. A chance! Lansi abandoned the picnic site and rushed towards the mountain trails.

The leaves fluttered a crystalline blue in the sunlight. She broke through bushes and tore down the branches in her path. The small creatures in the underbrush chittered as she ran past them, frantic to not be trampled by her hooves.

Lansi searched high and low for Kino to no avail. She is sure this was the direction that they fell from. This was clearly getting nowhere fast, instead of fruitlessly running, she decided to calm herself. She kicked away some branches and sat cross legged. With her peony tail wrapped around her, she concentrated on her watcher's eye. Lansi channeled her thoughts on Kino, imagining their blue fur and wind chime accessories. Where is Kino?

The watcher's eye let out a probing wave of magic. It only took a moment and the image of a fluffy blue blur came to her mind. She concentrated harder to backtrack where that image came from. It was towards the north! There is a bubbling stream of water nearby.

Lansi methodically went through the forest and sent her magic waves out, playing hot and cold with a cosprout that may not be able to answer back. She soon came across the stream that she saw in her vision.

Kino limped out from the bushes and only looked a little worse for wear. The claws scratched up the wool and there were branches stuck in them as they fell from the canopy. Kino shouted with joy as they were reunited. Lansi gave Kino a big hug and returned to the picnic site. It was a long day, they surely needed to reschedule the meal they planned together!
