a friend to remember!
"Hey, you there, little lamba, slow down for just a sec!"
The call startled the small lamba, who had just set themselves to resume their adventure once more. They turned their woolly head to look up at the cossetling before them. She was horned and had her hands on her hips, her shadow cast over the lamba as they stared up at her curiously.
"Ain't you in a hurry?" she mused, causing the lamba to dig a hoof into the ground determinedly, puffing out their chest. They were on a mission, and they intended to complete it! "Aw, shucks. I wouldn't dream of stoppin' you, sugar, but I had to let ya know, all your food is pourin' outta that fancy bag of yours."
The lamba had been so focused on the good-natured cossetling that it didn't even realize all of their fruit was strewn across the ground behind them. Their newfound friend helped them gather their fruits and pack them back up, this time more securely.
“There ya go. All set and ready to keep goin’. Before you head on your way, mind if I ask who or what yer looking for, sugar?”
The lamba skittered around in a circle enthusiastically, stomping their hooves down into the grass while they baa'd their unintelligible response. Their friend seemed to understand them, or at least pretend to understand them, because she nodded, scratching her chin thoughtfully.
“Y'know, I did see someone pass ‘round here not too long ago, if that's who yer lookin’ for. They were headed off in that direction,” she directed, pointing slightly off from where the lamba had been heading. They took another sniff of the air, the breeze carrying the familiar scent of their friend. They were indeed heading that way!
The lamba hastily nuzzled against their friend's leg, and she leaned down to give them a quick scratch behind the ear. “Good luck, little adventurer,” she cooed sweetly, straightening back up and waving goodbye as she headed on her way. The lamba watched her leave, looking down at the ground and noticing a trail of tiny bits of wheat that seemed to shake from her clothes as she trotted along. The lamba picked up a small strand of wheat in their mouth to remember their new friend and perhaps to nibble on as they continued their mission. They turned and marched off resolutely, excitement swelling within them as they felt themselves getting closer and closer to their lost cosset friend.
sorry it took me a minute to get this done😭 but it's been completed. and apologies for the lack of direction for the next installment, but everyone here is so creative, so i figured it would be best to leave it open ended!
