Belle of the Ball | Hidden Identity

Malcolm was anxious when it came to his attire for the ball, of course he was- he wanted to participate without being identified, and he could only do so much to hide his identity without being entirely covered in cloth, which wasn't exactly an acceptable form of attire for the masquerade. Well, he was smart enough to figure something out. Even if he wasn't versed in clothing and fashion, he knew enough from the research he did for some of his stories. Surely that would translate just as well as actual fashion experience would, right?

When he entered the ballroom, he immediately moved to the side of the room, hidden away from most of the other guests. He might put himself out a bit more when it came to the dancing portion of the event, but for right now he was quite fine with standing by the wall, looking over his outfit and making sure everything was in place.

His outfit was something in-between a suit and a dress, something tighter and form fitting in some places, while other parts of the outfit were more free flowing.  It was a way for him to hide his figure at least a little bit. His upper body sported a light blue suit jacket with a white undershirt decorated with small flower markings in a soft yellow. Around his neck was a darker blue bowtie- if you looked closely enough you might even be able to see how poorly knotted it was. Admittedly, bowties were much different than Malcolm's normal cravat.

The cossetling's legs were hidden by three layers of a dress skirt, each one a different color. The top layer was puffy, but not to an extreme point. It was a soft yellow color similar to the patterns on Malcolm's shirt. The middle layer was something closer to a green, but a green dull enough to where it could easily be mistaken for some kind of blue. This layer was thin, clearly there only to transition between the colors of the top and bottom dress layers. The bottom layer in question was a light blue, and the inside of the dress was filled with ruffled white fabric, making it nearly impossible to see Malcolm's hooves.

As for his mask, it covered the entirety of his face. The mask was a plain white, but was decorated with complex patterns of filigree. The golden wire on the mask twisted into vines, flowers, and other similar shapes. And to put it all together, Malcolm had worn a crown of fabric and filigree, a ruffle above his head that hid even more of his features.

Truly, he had done everything in his power in order to make sure he would be unrecognizable in the crowd. And with the outfits that others were wearing during the event, he didn't seem to stand out like a sore thumb either. A bit mysterious, maybe, but nothing that would cause too much stress.

He gave out a little huff of relief at the thought. If he was lucky, he might be able to get some more research done for a new story.
