Cuerasu vs Katte
“Grrr…”
A flash of teal can be seen dashing across the field– and then back across the opposing side, followed with the sound of growls and hisses. It’s evident from the way the katte’s scratching at the air that he is agitated by the murder of cuerasus flying about.
The katte lets out a loud yowl, only for his vision to darken all of a sudden because of his hat being patted down.
“Shhh. It’s okay, Soo-in. Take a breath.”
Hearing Yoo-ah’s voice definitely seems to quell a little of his anger. Though, he can’t help but flick his tail still in annoyance as he pushes his hat back into place with one hand. When Soo-in looks back, he sees his cossetling holding onto a needle and thread to patch up the scarecrow’s broken seams.
“Hm… They really did a number on this guy.” He hears Yoo-ah mumble under her breath. Soo-in closes in, peering over at the scarecrow with curiosity and to check out its damage before he’s distracted by a crow landing on his head like it belongs there.
“Mrow!” Soo-in growls once again, wapping its paw angrily in the air to chase the cuerasu away, only to hear Yoo-ah giggling soon after.
She gives him a gentle pat on the head, fingers sliding down to scratch at his chin after before she returns her attention to the scarecrow. “They’re just trying to play with you,” she smiles, tugging the scarecrow’s shirt back in place with a hum.
Just as Yoo-ah says that, a cuerasu lands on her lap that’s not occupied by the scarecrow’s body. It caws at her and she gives its beak a little tap. “What a fearless child,” she muses.
Unlike Soo-in, Yoo-ah doesn’t seem all too bothered by the cuerasus around them. Then again, Soo-in realizes that none of them dare to close in on her, aside from this one particular cuerasu… It’s the very same one that keeps pecking and circling around him, too. His archnemesis!
He stares at the cuerasu with wary eyes, hind legs shifting around every so often as if he’s getting ready to pounce if it does anything funny. Unfortunately for him, all it does is stay perched on Yoo-ah’s lap and watches her fix the scarecrow, little by little. Occasionally, it would tilt its head and peck at a spot on the scarecrow ; a broken part, as if it’s trying to help.
Yoo-ah would smile and thank it for its help, but Soo-in doesn’t trust it one bit. He thinks it’s going to do something funny. Cuerasus can’t be trusted, after all… Soo-in knows that better than anyone.
“Almost done.” Yoo-ah announces out loud, stuffing some brand new hay into the scarecrow before she seals up its seams. A proud smile hangs on her face when she finishes up, the witch wiping away the sweat from her forehead before she glances over at the cuerasu.
Without saying a word, she brings a hand close to the cosprout and gently lifts it up by its talons, moving it to the ground before she stands up to stretch. “Mm… That took longer than expected.”
Soo-in agrees. Though… he’s keeping his eyes on the cuerasu on the ground, who’s jumping around and flapping its wings. Before Soo-in can do anything though, Yoo-ah reaches over to scoop him up into her arms and over her shoulder.. “Stay,” she says before she reaches for the scarecrow.
“Let's put this back up and head home,” Yoo-ah hums. Soo-in perks up at that and chitters, tail wagging in agreement to her words.
Of course, Soo-in is happy about this – It means he won’t have to deal with all these annoying cuerasus, after all! He’ll get to take a nap, too!
His excitement sure is contagious, as it draws out a giggle from Yoo-ah’s lips.
True to her words, the witch and katte would return to their abode after they set the scarecrow back up in its original spot. However, much to the katte’s dismay, his life without a cuerasu would be nothing but a dream… For unbeknownst to him, the cuerasu that’s kept them company the entire time would trail behind them all the way home.
